Alan's Pre-Vacation Blog 08/31/11

Some great weather lies ahead, but first a word about yesterday. We predicted lower 80s, maybe 83 or 84. That is what we got to- Newark 84, Trenton 83, so I was happy with that forecast. It was, of course, cooler near the water.

Today, it's pretty similar. Mostly sunny with low humidity once again with highs 83 to 87, so a little bit warmer, especially near Newark, but cooler 70s at the beaches.

Mainly clear and fairly comfortable tonight back in the 50s for some, and mid 60s or so urban and coastal areas.

And I've taken the slight chance of a shower out of the forecast Thursday. I'm mentioning some sunshine now and lower 80s, but cooler 70s again near the water. It's still reasonably low humidity tomorrow for the fourth day in a row.

It'll be somewhat more humid Friday and partly sunny in the low 80s, but cooler at the beaches. There may be a few showers for Friday night.

Now, most of Saturday looks okay from here. I think a shower or thunderstorm chance holds off until Saturday evening or night, so Saturday daytime should be okay.

There will be a shower or thunderstorm chance for Sunday, and perhaps into early Monday.

Katia is strengthening now and will become a major hurricane in the many days ahead. It will probably not be a major player in East Coast weather, but we'll watch

I'll be off on vacation now through Labor Day. I'll see you next Tuesday.
